My name is Charles Kumar Hollis

I am a senior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX where I study anthropology and Spanish. Within those fields, I specialize in archaeology and Spanish literature respectively. My academic pursuits coincide with my creative endeavors to a substantial degree, wherein I focus on the cultural side of things with the literary flair. I primarily write in free verse poetry that often dwells in what I call 'optimistic body horror'

Optimistic body horror is best described as a way of appreciating the beauty of the world in ways that would seem otherwise grotesque or macabre. I strive to prove that the most beautiful and hopeful reaches of the human experience are often drawn from our darkest places.This can often be depicted through a seemingly depressing scene and characterization, but ending on a moral of prosperity and kindness. I will admit that it is a little avant garde, but if you take a look at it, I hope you can capture the same feelings I had when writing it. To communicate the emotions and feelings one has when writing is an extremely difficult task, but I aspire to be able to do so with ease.
